Stuyvesant Honors the memory of '22 Arielle Aney

Prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, Stuyvesant honored the memory of class of 2022, Arielle Aney with a memorial service and plaque dedication. Arielle sadly passed away in March of 2023 from her battle with colorectal cancer. Arielle was a competitive swimmer at and outside of Stuy and beloved by her fellow teammates and classmates, friends and family. Ms. Silvana Choy and Mr. Peter Bologna organized the service and dedication. Administration, Ms. Choy and former students as well as Arielle's mother spoke a the touching memorial and shared memories and heart-warming stories. The Stuyvesant Chorus performed "You Raise Me Up" in Arielle's honor as dedicated at the Spring Concert earlier in March of this year. Arielle was also a member of the Stuyvesant Chorus. Arielle's plaque is located on the lobby level outside the pool elevator along with relocated plaques dedicated to Stuy swimmers, April and Kevin who passed away in 2006 in a vehicle accident.
