Stuyvesant Celebrates 50 years of Co-Education! Join us! May 10th! 3pm

<div> <p><strong>JOIN US – PARENTS, STUDENTS, ALUMNI &amp; STAFF INVITED</strong> -- Stuyvesant is celebrating <strong>50 years of Co-Education with the First Women of Stuyvesant</strong>!  <strong>Friday, May 10<sup>th</sup></strong>, beginning at period 10 (3 to 5pm). <strong>Stuyvesant’s Feminist’s Association</strong> has partnered with members of the <strong>Alumni Association</strong> to welcome back some of the very first women who were of the class of ’72. <strong>Dr.</strong><strong> </strong><strong>Evelyn Horn</strong>, <strong>Ms. Suzanne Rose Shapiro</strong>, and <strong>Ms. Abby Sheck</strong> will be present and speak about their time the first girls to enter Stuyvesant and current careers. There will be a Q&amp;A as well. <strong>Join us as we honor women of Stuyvesant past and present!</strong> Seniors, <strong>Leah Rosenthal</strong> and <strong>Alexandra Lennard</strong> of StuyFem will serve as student moderators and present. Program details will be provided after the break. <strong>Alice de Rivera </strong>spearheaded the fight attend the then “all boys” Stuyvesant High School in 1969. Refresh your memory of her story with this recent article in <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/how-a-thirteen-year-old-girl-smashed-the-gender-divide-in-american-high-schools"><em>The New Yorker</em></a>.   Special thanks to Alumni, <strong>Michael Hartig ’72 </strong>and<strong> Hal Diamond ’78, </strong>for their coordination and support of this event.</p> <p><strong>STUDENTS – As part of this event, StuyFem will be at the scanners on Friday, May 10<sup>th</sup> providing post-its for all to post their notes of appreciation and inspirational thoughts about the Women of Stuyvesant past or present. Please join them! Pick up a note and post it on the “Writing on the Wall” wall on the 2<sup>nd</sup> floor between the elevators and the senior bar, and help commemorate this historic event with us!</strong></p> <p></p> </div>
