Stuy’s Mathematical Modelers Win HiMCM!

Stuy’s Mathematical Modelers Win HiMCM!

Congratulations to the mathematical modeling team of Audrey Jing, Patrick Was, Cynthia Wen, and Kiran Yesley, who were named the NCTM Winner of the High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM)! The team’s quantitative analysis and evaluation of potential new Olympic games was the top-rated paper in a field of over 500 entries from around the world. This is a first for Stuyvesant’s mathematical modelers, and an incredible achievement! And in another outstanding finish, the modeling team of Ethan Sharma, Ethan Sie, Ryan Park, and Jackie Zeng were named Finalists for their mathematical analysis of the environmental impact of High Powered Computing centers, placing in the top 5% of entries worldwide. Congratulations to these two outstanding teams, and to the eight additional teams that competed successfully in this challenging applied mathematics event.
