Tiffany Troy, Stuy '14 visited Ms. Annie Thoms' Writing to Make Change classes to speak about her work as a poet and translator, and about lifting up the stories and languages of our communities in poetic form. She was my Ms. Thoms and Dr. Moore's many years ago.
Troy is also the co-editor of the online poetry journal Matter, along with poet Darius Phelps. She invited students to join her as guest editors and contributors to the March issue of Matter. Students Tafheem Ahrar, Ilora Bhattacharyya, Stanislaw Chadrys, Gavin Cheng, Emily Liu, Grace Ma, Samia Mimo, and Shayna Wilson took her up on the offer, and the issue has just come out! It looks amazing, and is an extraordinary opportunity for authentic publication for our students.
