Stuy Speech & Debate compete in 4 virtual tournaments last weekend!

<p>Coach, Ms. Julie Sheinman shares that on Friday and Saturday, October 22 and 23, 2021, She &quot;attended&quot; four individual Speech and Debate tournaments with over 70 team members participating virtually.</p><p>The 70 students include entries for the virtual CFL Tournament at Xavier, the online policy tournament or our Novice, first-time debaters and  a  CFL Public Forum contest at Regis on 10/23. Additionally, they were online for the Manhattan Debate League tournament on Friday.</p><p>Our students did fantastic! Here are the results:</p><p>PF novices and the policy team novices made their debut.      They did very well and had a great time! Some even received 1/2 qualifications for the State Championship.</p><p>On the Speech and Congress side of things at Virtual Xavier our novices made their debuts in Speech and Congress.</p><p>Many of the first timers reached finals with Chinayah Brown placing first at her very first tournament.  Novices in JV extemp advanced to finals, and our JV readers placed 1,2,and 3 </p><p>out of a very large field.  Big congratulations to Melia Moore who placed first at all three of the tournaments we attended.</p><p>15 new Stuyvesant Congressional debaters made their debut, with Captains Zhaklene Saunders and Will Summitt leading the pack,</p><p>CONGRATS to ALL the varsity team members who did a great job of coaching their novices. You are really upholding a very time-honored tradition</p>
