On Thursday, November 2, Stuyvesant Roadrunners leader and Rising New York Road Runners Youth Ambassador, Aliceana Lin, had the honor of presenting awards to the NYRR Hall of Fame Class of 2019, the Abebe Bikila Award for outstanding contributions to the sport of running, and the George Hirsch Journalism Award for excellence in the reporting, writing, and broadcasting of the sport of running. She was able to meet and talk to many extinguished people that helped expand the running community and especially youth running. Aliceana also spoke at the podium to present Rising New York Roadrunners Ambassador and Special Advisor, Jenny Simpson, with the Abebe Bikila Award for all her contributions to spreading youth running.
TCS Run with Champions - Friday, November 1, 2019
Three roadrunners raced 400 meters to the TCS New York City Marathon finish line, cheered on by pro athletes and NYRR staff members. It was the first time that we attended the event and although it was a very cold day, we had lots of fun and had a good experience.
Night of Champions - November 3, 2019
Deric Lee was invited to a private event called the Night of Champions, which was held to honor people that have contributed a tremendous amount to youth and community programs, as a Rising New York Road Runners Youth Ambassador. He shares that he opened the night with a speech honoring Jenny Simpson and celebrating 20 years of free youth running.
