Stuy ranks 3rd as semifinalist in Ethics Forum

Biology teacher, Ms. Deame Hua is the coach/faculty advisor for Stuy Ethics Forum that has a two tier structure. One tier produced the magazine. The other tier participated in the tri-state regional (NJ/NYC/LI) Ethics Bowl competition. As noted earlier, Stuyvesant ranked 3rd and is a semi-finalist. Below is a picture of the plaque we received. Students plan to host a intra-school competition later this spring in the form of a Stuy Ethics Bowl to encourage community building and discussion of ethics amongst the students in the school.

In addition, students on the team noted that there were some issues with judging and had a meeting with someone from the Squire Foundation who sponsors the National High School Ethics Bowl to present their suggestions and ideas to amend the judges’ training and the scoring sheet. They are currently working in collaboration with the the rep to provide student input to possible changes at the national level for the competition.
