Stuy MUN Update!

Senior, Joshua Weiner shares an update on Stuy MUN (Model UN)!

Stuyvesant Model United Nations has had a busy month!

This past weekend, from November 9th to 11th, Stuyvesant Model United Nations travelled to Brown University to compete at our first national collegiate conference of the year. 30 delegates debated, collaborated with, and learned from other delegates from around the world on issues ranging from improving health in developing nations to historical committees on the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Once again, Stuyvesant Model UN made a strong showing, winning many awards as a delegation. Most importantly, though, our delegates had an amazing weekend in Providence, Rhode Island, and made a strong showing representing Stuyvesant High School at the national level.

On October 13th, we hosted MiniMUNC, a conference aimed at teaching New York City delegates new to the circuit about how to succeed in Model United Nations. Stuyvesant High School saw hundreds of students come to the school on an October Saturday, ready to dive into the activity. Throughout the beginning of the day, returning Stuyvesant delegates held workshops for students to visit and learn many skills necessary for success in Model UN. Then, we held several committee sessions where delegates were given the opportunity to practice their skills in a real committee setting.
