Stuyvesant was honored to host the 1st BIPOC Youth Summit - a collaboration of the Stuyvesant and Brooklyn Tech Alumni Associations, Stuy's DEI Committee, the Black@Specialized Instagram, and the Stuy Mosaic Parent's Group! This past Saturday, students and families from specialized high schools across NYC gathered to enjoy workshops and presentations. Students heard from the members of the DEI committee, president of BSL, John Chandler and co-leaders of the Mosaic Parent group as well as heard a special performance from Drumologist, Dr. Drum, Jamaican born poet and writer, David Allen. They enjoyed workshops with Afro-Dominican yoga teacher Roque Rodriguez as well as Grae Frutos, bilingual speech and language pathologist. This was a wonderful day of coming together as a community that we hope to make an annual event. Gratitude to the support of the Stuy and Brooklyn Tech Alumni association and Parent's Association and Stuy Mosaic Parent group for supporting the day with funding! For a full size collage click here.
