Stuy hosting Career & Future Pathways Fair on 10/25/24

Stuy hosting Career & Future Pathways Fair on 10/25/24

In the afternoon of the Friday, October 25 administration of the PSAT/NMSQT, we will hold our first ever school-wide Career & Future Pathways Fair from 12:50 - 2:50 pm. Therefore, we will not have abbreviated classes in the afternoon like we typically do.

For the Career & Future Pathways Fair we will bring into the school building more than 80+ volunteers composed of alumni, parents/guardians, and other professionals, who will share and present to students about their respective careers/industry/profession. Students will have an opportunity to learn about and explore prospective industries/careers/professions from those with insights and expertise in their field. Our volunteers will touch on their educational background, share their career trajectory, pass on advice/guidance, and take questions from the students. The Fair is an opportunity to bring together our community and to highlight the exploration of future pathways and trajectories that students may consider after Stuyvesant.

The Career & Future Pathways Fair will consist of two back-to-back one-hour sessions presented by our volunteers in various classrooms as well as a panel discussion in the Theater for one of our cohorts. Our Faculty will be assigned to a classroom to offer support and/or assistance if needed to the volunteer who will be presenting to the group of students assigned for the session.

The Fair is an opportunity for Stuy to welcome alumni, parents/guardians, and other volunteer professionals to share their insights and experiences related to their career/profession/industry with our students. Additionally, the Fair has been a galvanizing opportunity to channel the enthusiasm of our alumni who are so excited to give back to the school and who will be holding their reunions on Saturday. The short afternoon will give our seniors, sophomores, and freshmen the opportunity to learn about different careers from individual guest speakers in our classrooms, while our entire Junior class will be in the Theatre to hear from a panel of 7-8 diverse professionals from a variety of professions.

This Fair could not happen without the leadership of a group of staff volunteers who are leading the way. A big “thank you” to:
