Stuy celebrates Japandemonium 2025!

Ms. Chie Helinski shares that over 80 students gathered on Saturday, 5/24 to participate in this year's Japandemonium. It is one event my students love, and 20 alumni came back to help out and ran the event. Mr. Gunder also came to show off his Japanese skills and mingled with the students.

The day was filled with fun and sometimes challenging cultural activities, from racing to get red bean filled bread (without using hands) and telephone to writing katakana words on the floor and Japardy!.

The students were put in random groups, which allowed everyone to mingle and bond with beyond the grade level. The winning group got prizes, but every group was proud of their own. The bond created during Japandemonium often continues to grow among the participants beyond the day of the event, and has impact on our students. It was a great event!
