Stuy Ballroom classes learn the Lindy from Battery Dance!

The Stuyvesant Ballroom Dance PE classes have been learning to dance the Lindy Hop! Dance professional Rafal Pustelny, has not only been teaching the students how to dance the steps, but also about the history and cultural importance of the Lindy Hop. As stated by Rafal, "the Lindy Hop is an African American dance form created in Harlem in the late 1920s. To fully understand the dance, one must learn about the culture and context in which the dance was created.” Rafal exudes joy when teaching our PE classes and his passion for Lindy Hop is infectious and inspiring. It has been a wonderful experience to have Rafal in our PE classes, and the students have embraced the opportunity to learn all they can from him. Thank you to Harvey Blumm and to Battery Dance for granting us this opportunity. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the future!
