UPDATE: Encouraging Your Children to Help Decide How to Spend $100,000

It’s Our Money (www.participate.nyc.gov/) is the City’s first-ever, youth-led participatory budgeting process. It gives New Yorkers ages nine to 24 the chance to help decide how the City should spend $100,000 on projects that benefit their communities.

Through It’s Our Money, students can choose their favorite ideas from a list of 50 projects to vote from, including projects that:

Help young people deal with anxiety and stress;

Provide homework help and other educational programs;

Grant career opportunities;

Allow students to do more of the things they love, like making art, playing music, participating in sports, etc; and

Give them ways to advocate for even more change in NYC.

The voting period for the It’s Our Money participatory budgeting process has been extended to Friday, February 26. To learn how to participate, visit The Morning Bell. For more on participatory budgeting, visit council.nyc.gov/pb.
