On April 18th, artist, educator, and Stuy parent Laura Nova is bringing a hands-on cyanotype printing workshop to the lobby. All students are invited to drop in, make a print, and become part of a collaborative artwork that will be auctioned at the Spring Gala to benefit Stuyvesant.
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic techniques in the world — invented in 1842, it uses UV light and iron salts to create luminous blue images without a camera or darkroom. Each student will make a 5x7 print using everyday objects (we’re starting with eyeglasses — bring yours!), and all the prints will be assembled into one large piece for the auction.
No experience necessary. Just drop in anytime between 10am and 2pm.
