SENIORS: Complete your Common App FERPA Waiver on Naviance

<p>This year, Naviance made an unannounced change to the Common App-Naviance matching process which allows students to match their accounts without completing the Common App FERPA Waiver. <i>However, the FERPA waiver must be completed in order for Stuy to be able to send any documents to your colleges this year.</i></p><p>If you already completed the waiver but your Naviance account indicates that it is still incomplete, just email your assigned college counselor; we can then refresh your CA data so that Naviance reflects the completed waiver.</p><p><b>If you have NOT completed the FERPA waiver in Common App, you should do so asap. </b> See the instructions below. </p><p>When completing the CA waiver, remember to <b>choose “I waive my right to review all recommendations and supporting documents”</b></p><ul><li>Colleges expect rec letters to be confidential and value confidential recs far more than any that are not.</li><li>Not agreeing to waive your right can be a red flag to admissions offices.</li><li>Rec letter writing is entirely voluntary; staff members will not write letters for students who do not agree to maintain confidentiality.</li></ul><p><b>INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE CA FERPA WAIVER:</b></p><ul><li>Log in to your Common App account</li><li>Click on any of the colleges in your My Colleges list</li><li>Select “Recommenders and FERPA”</li><li>Select “Complete Release Authorization”</li><li>Respond accordingly to the prompts</li><li>Sign, date, and select “Save and Close”</li></ul><p>Please contact your assigned college counselor if you need help or if you have any other questions.</p>
