SEC’s Billion Oyster Project Progress

On Tuesday, the Stuyvesant Environmental Club took a trip down to Pier 40’s Hudson river wet lab. In pairs of two, they measured oysters and surveyed biodiversity of two new oyster cages! From the cages, students found interesting species such as the skilletfish (signs that conditions are improving in the Hudson River Estuary) and pacific shore crab (invasive to Hudson with ability to harm native mud crab and blue mussel populations)!  See a full size collage here.
