The Parent's Association is excited to announce that their fundraiser “Run4Stuy”, born out of an idea while on the run more than a year ago, has been approved at the PA meeting on June 10, 2025.
Q: Who are we?
A: We are a growing bunch of runners, pickle ballers, walkers, photographers, cyclists and cheer leaders whose paths have crossed because of Stuyvesant High School and New York City Marathon. We are parents of current Stuy students and Stuy alumni. We advocate an active lifestyle for improved physical and mental well-being. We aim to leverage our passion for NYC Marathon to raise funds for PA to benefit Stuy students. All are welcome to join!
Q: What do we do?
A: We rally around living active lifestyles in general and NYC marathon in particular. We will be running, volunteering, cheering, photographing and supporting along the 26.2 mile-course of the NYC Marathon on November 2, 2025.
Q: Why do we do it?
A: On the one hand, “stressful” is the common word quoted by parent panelists at the PA meeting to describe their kids high school career especially the college admissions process. Guess what, running and staying active is one of the most effective antidotes to stress.
On the other hand, while constantly awed at Stuyvesant students’ academic and extracurricular achievements, we can all agree that Stuy could use more resources.
“Run4Stuy” aims to hit two birds with one stone: building our physical and mental strength while raising funds that could be used to give our students more opportunities.
Q: How do we do it?
A: PA will develop a fundraising platform where friends, families and community members may donate online. We welcome everyone to spread the words on their own social media. We will keep the Stuy community posted on our progress via PA's newsletter and Ms. Ingram's weekly update.
In terms of training, we will mostly train on our own but will also organize occasional group runs/events that accommodate people’s busy schedules. We will follow each other on the free Strava app, motivate each other and be held accountable against our personal goals.
Q: What is the immediate next event?
A: A few of us are running, cheering and photographing the Queens 10K race this Saturday on June 14 at Flushing Meadow Corona Park. Join us in the run, fun and food!
Q: I’m interested. How do I join?
A: Thank you for your interest! Please email: juweihua@yahoo.com. Let’s unite for the kids and run for health, joy and resilience!
