Ms. Joseph Tamosaitis put this slideshow together in memory of the 20th anniversary of 9/11. The music is from our first concert at Stuy after 9/11.
That was a very remarkable year at school. The students didn’t mourn openly. Instead they were resolute in doing their very best so that “the terrorists wouldn’t win”.
Still the emotions were out there. Often, kids would say after a concert or a certain piece of music, “That was a 9/11 moment”- as if only music could articulate the sadness that nobody openly expressed.
The music here is the first movement from the Copland Clarinet Concerto played by student Alex Brash. We hope you enjoy it.
