NYC Math Team takes 1st place in PuMAC 2021! Congrats STUY Math students!

Mr. Stan Katx shares that last week the NYC Math Team competed in the Princeton University Mathematics Competition (PUMaC). Results were confirmed and for the first time ever, the NYC Math Team won the competition!

Our top team, Tin Man, was made up of 8 students, 5 of whom are from Stuyvesant - Srinath Mahankali, Rishabh Das, Ethan Joo, Max Vaysburd and Theo Schiminovich.

Two of the students, Srinath Mahankali and Rishabh Das, along with two students from our second team (Scarecrow), Mario Tutuncu-Macias and Jerry Liang, qualified for the individual finals. Tin Man was ranked first individually, as well as as a team.

Scarecrow ended up finishing 12th overall. Both teams placed in the top 10 for the proof round (2nd and 6th places). Scarecrow was made up entirely of Stuyvesant students - Declan Stacy, Ben Kreiswirth, Jerry Liang, Mario Tutuncu-Macias, Maxwell Pang, Alice Zhu, Joseph Othman, and Josiah Moltz.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL! WE ARE SO PROUD!
