Stuy grad Tiffany Troy '14 spoke with two of Ms. Thoms's "Writing to Make Change" classes today then read to all three of my Poetry Workshop classes from her poetry collection in the Library this afternoon. Many thanks to the Librarians for making the larger reading possible and to Dina for helping me organize a small honorarium. Speaking about reading poetry on the subway while working full time as a private practice lawyer in Flushing, Tiffany told my poetry students "I think a lot of us can identify with reading, writing, and generally finishing our English Homework on the 7 train." It was so wonderful for Stuy students to hear from a writer who they can so clearly connect to.
