Ms. Marissa Maggio shares that last week, students from the Urban Ecology class went to Yonkers Waste Water Treatment Plant to learn how waste water is treated before being returned to the bodies of water surrounding our city. They then went to Sarah Lawrence center for urban river at Beczak. The students had lunch and learned about Hudson River History and ecology. They also spent the afternoon conducting biodiversity study. In 2 hours, they collected 86 samples from nine different species including two types of jelly fish, four species of fish, eel, shrimp, and crabs! (photos courtesy of Ms. Maggio)
