This past week, Stuyvesant High School was featured at the Annual Conference for Language Access Coordinators (LAC) in Queens. Ms. Ingram presented to schools in round table discussions on Best Practices in Gathering Language Access Data from Databases and Parents, and spoke on our translation services for parents.
Guest Speaker, Allison Corbett, Founder of the Language of Justice Oral History Project shared her research with us and workshops were attended by LACs on completing our Language Translation and Interpretation Plan in our CEP (Comprehensive Educational Plan); on new Technology for Interpretation; as well as Cultural Humility Training that examined concepts of multiculturalism and intersectionality. I’m looking forward to implementing ideas and improvements at Stuyvesant for interpretation. Here is a photo of the keynote and Q & A at the Language Translation Unit in Long Island City.
