Ms. Chie Helinski shares that this week, after a stressful week of college early application, the AP Japanese students tried something they never did before. Thanks to a brilliant suggestion from Mr. Hing Li, I made a list of vocabulary in Japanese (the students learned the words as HW) and the students played an extremely popular game called Among Us.
All the students knew about the game, and all but two students have played it before. Four students volunteered to be the leaders, and the remaining students chose their groups. In their breakout rooms, they were told to speak only Japanese and write the tasks in Japanese as well.
Mr. Li joined her to assist me. They watched different breakout rooms, and both heard a lot of Japanese spoken and many smiling faces. It was great to see how much fun they were having. It was also great to see they were using the language on the spot to not get eliminated and/or find the imposters. (photos courtesy of Ms. Helinski)
