Ms. Chu shares student Artwork from Painting & Art App classes

Ms. Jeannie Chu shares that several areas showcasing student artworks were put up in our building before the February break.

Works by Painting students were placed along the hall on the 5th floor.

“Painting students were inspired by late abstract colorist Alma Thomas, her work “Fall Begins” (1976) and her words "Man's highest aspirations come from nature. Color is life” in creating their own paintings. Alma Thomas’s painting “Resurrection” was the first piece by a black woman to be accepted into the White House permanent collection. Like Thomas, students worked with different color schemes and relationships, applying color theory to their paintings. Please enjoy!“

Works by Art Appreciation students were placed by elevators on the 1st, 2nd and 10th floors.

“Art Appreciation students created an abstract collage of a principle of design using lines, shapes, textures and values. Principles demonstrated include emphasis, variety, rhythm, unity, pattern, movement, balance and proportion- can you identify them in the students’ designs?”
