Mr. Robert Sandler contributes that this week, twelve members of his Jewish History class attended a concert by the celebrated Bukharian Jewish ensemble Shashmaqam! This string-based ensemble brought the band’s native cultures of Uzbekistan & Tajikistan to life! The students loved learning about this little-known aspect of the Jewish diaspora and ate traditional Plov, a chicken rice pilaf with cumin, coriander, turmeric & chili!
