On January 22nd, Mr. Robert Sandler took a group of students from his Jewish History class to tour Temple Emanu-El on One East 65th Street. They learned about the history of the congregation, the architecture and the philosophy behind Reform Judaism. The students loved visiting this landmark where some of the most prominent German Jewish Americans, the Guggenheims, Lehmans, Warburgs all worshipped. Mr. Sandler shares it was a real contrast from the visit to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where they explored the Hasidic community. (photos courtesy of Mr. Sandler)
