On May 23, 2023, Mr. Sandler took students to the annual Gilder Lehrman Gala that honored Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates and Valerie Rockefeller at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The Gala, honors individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on history education. Previous gala honorees include Ken Burns, Ron Chernow, Laura Bush, and other notable institutional leaders, philanthropic innovators, and historians. Stuy Alumni and Cornell graduate Kenny Wong and Sukanya Ferguson (Stuy 2023) both members of the GLI student advisory council attended the event with Mr. Sandler. Mr. Sandler was the Gilder Lehrman NY State Teacher of the year in 2014. It was a wonderful night! View a full size photo collage here.
