Mr. Sandler hosts NYC Historical Society on LGBTQ+ activists

<p>Social Studies teacher, <b>Mr. Robert Sandler</b> shares that he had 58 students from <b>NYC History and AP U.S. History classes</b> attend after school, a virtual tour with educators from the <b>New-York Historical Society</b> to learn about the <b>experiences of LGBTQ+ activists in New York City</b>. Students explored how one&#x27;s intersectional identities of race, class, gender, and sexuality impacted their lives and political advocacy. </p><p>They also examined artifacts from the Stonewall Uprising, Keith Haring, Pauli Murray, Marsha P Johnson &amp; Sylvia Rivera, Christine Jorgenson, the Queer Liberation March, and the museum&#x27;s collection of hundreds of pride buttons.
