JUNIORS: Steps to start your College Planning with the College Office

Next semester we are going to dive in to your college planning process, and that means you will need to start to utilize your Naviance account.  You have not yet activated your account, so please make sure to do so soon.

Naviance is an online system that allows you to explore potential colleges and careers/majors, review Stuyvesant’s historical college application data, and stay informed regarding important college planning tasks and events.  Student opportunities (volunteerism, internships, etc.) for Stuy students are posted throughout the year in the Naviance Document Resources.

You will use Naviance regularly starting in the second term, and will need access to work on the SSR survey for your school counselor along with your college planning survey for your college counselor.  In your senior year, you will use Naviance to indicate where you’ll be applying to college, and our college counselors will use the system to submit required application documents to colleges. For now, you can use Naviance begin to explore colleges and/or majors & careers, check out student opportunities, etc.  

Please complete the following steps when you get the chance:

Step 1: Activate your Naviance Student account.

·        Visit the following link:  https://student.naviance.com/stuyvesant

·         Click on “I am new and need to register”

·         Enter your unique registration code:  !fc_regcode

Then, simply follow the steps to confirm your email address and create a password. 

You can then log in to Naviance at any time via the link below:

https://student.naviance.com/stuyvesant

Step 2Log in to your account and enter information for your parent (s)

-click on"About me" 

-click on "my account" 

-click on "parents/guardians" and then "edit"

-enter at least a working email address for a parent and click "save"

STEP 3: Email either of the College Office secretaries to request that the parent account (s) be activated.

-Students should enter "PLEASE ACTIVATE PARENT ACCOUNT" in the subject of the email and include only the student's name and official class within the body of the email.

Parents will then receive an email within one to three business days through which they can access their parent accounts. 

Once these steps are complete, please feel free to use any of the college or career search tools within.  We will show you more of Naviance next term.
