RECRUITING FOR COMPETITION TEAM- The Stuyvesant Envirothon team is a competition-oriented club, training during the Fall Term while preparing for the City Envirothon competition in April. Envirothon is a competition that is administered at the city, state, national, and international levels, with a focus on the environmental sciences. The five categories of the competition are: Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, Wildlife and a Current Issue that changes every year. Students choose an area to focus on, but during competitions the teams work together to answer the questions for each category. Students will also prepare a solution to a real-world problem related to the Current Issue and present their solutions as a team to judges at the competition.
During training meetings, they engage in fun activities that help students learn about each category while also challenging students to come up with solutions to environmental issues that have been around for decades. Not only do they keep learning to within the school, they also take trips in order to put our learned skills into practice and to interact with the environment.
Any student interested in joining, should go to the interest meeting that will be held on Monday, December 17th after 10th period, in room 739.
