Stuyvesant Spectrum Club
Stuy Spectrum: Our club exists to create a safe, welcoming, and accepting school environment for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Gender Non-conforming, Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ) students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity/expressions. Involvement in Spectrum is open to anyone and to everyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ and/or LGBTQ+ Allies (Straight Alliances). All we ask is that you are respectful, open-minded, non-judgmental and supportive in our mission endeavors. We are a proud student-led support group that specializes in all aspects of diversities and human rights. As members, everyone is encouraged to contribute their ideas, views, personal experiences and share their inner voice and self-expressions. We address all forms of bullying and discrimination through advocacy and education. Spectrum is a strong supporter of the Stuy UNITY initiatives that serves to promote information awareness, diversity initiatives, acceptance and respect for all. As part of Stuy UNITY, we believe education and our collective voices and community activism can empower and better all communities of all multicultural, cultural and diverse backgrounds.
