Join an NYPD Youth Leadership Council (YLC)

MNTAC shares an exciting opportunity for students ages 14-21 to join an NYPD Youth Leadership Council (YLC). The purpose of the YLC is to have a partnership with high school students to help support advocacy and leadership in the community.

The NYPD is looking for students who are interested in discussing ways to improve the community and take ownership over the issues that they and their peers want to address. The council is a platform for students to have their voice heard, share ideas with one another, and help their communities. This opportunity is open to all students, not just students interested in law enforcement. To join the council, the students must be currently enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program, and be between the ages of 14 and 21.

The meetings are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. However, it is not mandatory to attend every meeting – students come when they can! Will you please share this opportunity with your students? Here are the instructions for students to sign-up.

How to sign-up:

  1. Click this link: https://bit.ly/35VpN5k
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says “Step 2” and select the NYPD: Manhattan YLC
