Mr. Angel Colon, Stuy Aspira and BSL (Black Students League), and the School Counseling Department share that the next Talk Circles on Race will be The Week of February 10, beginning with Tuesday, February 11 and titled "Talk on Hate: Addressing Hate & Bias in Schools." Each day through Friday, there will be another Talk Circle. We will explore the rise of Hate Crimes, Racism, Slurs, Violence and related areas targeting Ableism, Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, LGBTQ+, Race, Bias, Identity and more... Wednesday, February 12 – “Race and Equity in Education” – a conversation on how race effects education and addressing unequal opportunities.
Thursday, February 13 – “Empowering and Supporting our LBGTQ+ GSA Community” – a conversation about respecting preferred pronouns and identities in schools
Friday, February 14 – “My Name is Islam” – a conversation about myths and facts on Muslim identity and addressing Islamophobia in our schools along with MIST 2020.
