Invesco's Rock the Street Welcomes Stuy Students!

Mr. Harvey Blumm shares that more than 30 Stuy female students participated in an afternoon field trip to the NYC headquarters of the Invesco Corporation, one of the world's biggest financial companies. This was arranged by the non-profit organization "Rock the Street Wall Street, (RTSWS)" which supports increasing the number of females in the field of finance by encouraging high school girls to learn about personal finance and careers in this industry.

The students were able to tour Invesco's trading floor, multimedia center, and other key departments, and engaged in an interactive panel discussion with senior female executives. Our students, who ranged from 9th to 12th graders, asked many pertinent, thoughtful questions and impressed these women professionals. And they finished the visit off with a delicious catered early dinner, during which students & executives mingled and chatted.

Many of the students participated in the fall term RTSWS financial education in-person sessions here at Stuy. There will be a new set of meetings next term, and female students interested in joining should check Mr. Blumm's weekly Student Opportunity Bulletin in late January, or contact him at: hblumm@stuy.edu

Special thanks to the RTSWS Club Faculty Advisor, School Counselor Angel Colon and Assistant Principal Jennifer Suri for facilitating this great event! (photos courtesy of Mr. Blumm and Mr. Colon).
