College Application Fee Waivers
1) The Common Application fee waiver process is completed entirely online. Financially disadvantaged students request a fee waiver in the "Profile" section "Common App Fee Waiver". The counselor will then confirm this information online via Naviance. The Common App fee waiver waivers application fees to all colleges to which a student applies via the Common App site.
2) Non -Common App colleges often accept the CollegeBoard fee waiver, available to students who used SAT fee waivers, which will be available within their online Collegeboard account: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/k12-educators/fee-waivers/college-application. Eligible students may also use a NACAC Fee Waiver instead. The student must submit the CollegeBoard or NACAC waiver directly to the colleges unless there are specific instructions for requesting fee waivers articulated within the application.
3) All students may apply to five SUNY colleges for FREE between October 19 and November 2. This is true regardless as to which application the student uses to apply. Students using suny.edu to apply to SUNY institutions rather than using the Common App after that time period must request a fee waiver within the application where prompted. Our counselor then approves the waiver on the back end of the SUNY portal for eligible students. We recommend that students use Common App rather than suny.edu whenever possible.
4) The CUNY application is FREE for all NYCDOE public school students who submit their application between September 15 and November 16
5) Some NYS private colleges like RPI, RIT and Fordham are also automatically waiving fees within a specific time frame this fall
