The Office of Student Enrollment is excited to announce that their first family events will be held across the next two weeks. These events will provide information around high school admissions for current 8th and/or first-time 9th graders. The high school application and registration for LaGuardia auditions have not opened yet. However, there are still many steps that families can take now! Similarly to our staff training sessions, the information sessions for families have been split into two parts.
Part 1, November Virtual Information Sessions: Getting Started with MySchools and Registering for the SHSAT. At each event, the DOE will walk families through how to create their MySchools accounts, use MySchools to explore high school options, and register for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). After the presentation, we will respond to questions about these topics. Dates, times, and language access information for these events are listed below.
Part 2, Winter Virtual Information Sessions: Applying to High School. At each of these events, the DOE will cover when and how to apply, how offers are made, how to build a balanced application, and how to participate in the audition process for arts programs, including LaGuardia High School. Dates, times, and language access information for these sessions will be announced later this year.
