The Stuy Library is excited to host therapy dogs during 5th and 6th periods on Wednesday, June 3rd.  If you think a few minutes interacting with a calm, well-trained dog during your free or lunch period would brighten your day, please complete this Dog Therapy Visit Lottery Form no later than May 28th for a chance to participate in this program. Please use your nycdoe email to fill out this form.

Benefits of interacting with a therapy dog

  • Blood pressure lowers
  • Heart rate decreases
  • Breathing slows
  • Overall significant measurable feeling of relaxation
  • Lowers stress and anxiety levels

Selected students will visit with a therapy dog and their handler in groups of three for 7 minutes per group or interactive conversation allowing time to relax, take a break, learn about therapy dogs and volunteering, and petting a sweet and gentle therapy dog in a comfortable atmosphere.

If you are selected, please arrive to the library no later than 5 minutes prior to your appointment.  We will not be able to accommodate students who arrive after their appointment time begins. We will send more instructions, including a required parental consent form, along with your appointment time if you are selected!

*Only students with Period 5 and 6 free are allowed to apply*
