The Art Department is inviting Stuy students to participate in a contest to create an original design for a holiday card that best represents the winter season. The winner will have their artwork become the e-card sent out by Principal Yu in December. The winner and two runners-ups will be chosen! Each year artwork submitted is used to wish a happy holiday season on Stuy's official social media pages. The judges will be looking for:
- creativity and originality
- quality of artwork
- interpretation of the subject matter/theme
Here are the rules for the contest:
- Only one piece of artwork per student may be submitted.
- Artwork must be completed by one student only. Group participation for one piece of artwork is not permitted.
- Artwork must incorporate the contest’s theme – a winter holiday and/or the winter season. It must not contain any religious content (no Santas, Christmas trees, menorahs, etc.)
- Artwork can measure up to 8” x 8”
- Original or digital artwork may be submitted
- Artwork must be original content created by the contest participant.
- Artwork may consist of one or multiple mediums -- photography, graphic design, collage, digital (with proof, progress shots/sketches), watercolor, oil paint, acrylic paint, charcoal, textiles, pencil, pen and ink.
- Artwork can be still life, portrait, abstract, landscape, etc.
- Winners will be notified by email and two or more entries will be selected by the principal to use as the school's holiday card.
- Be creative!
Deadline: By the end of the school day, Monday December 11, 2023
