Eco-Fact of the Week -- Week of November 29 2021

The Environmental Club presents the Eco-Fact of the week for the week of November 29, 2021 --Black Friday is a great time to shop–or is it? As fantastic as it sounds, Black Friday is a terrible day for the environment because it perpetuates a culture of overproduction and overconsumption. Because of the discounts, shoppers feel that they can spend more than they usually would. This leads to buying more than you actually need, just because something is cheap. For those of you who plan to buy something online, picture the sheer amount of plastic used for packaging, and the fuel needed to deliver them. Before buying something, keep in mind your potential environmental impact. Try using bundled shipping, opting for regular shipping instead of fast shipping, or buying products made from sustainable resources. Think more about what it would cost the environment rather than how much it would cost you. Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
