The Environmental Club presents the Eco-Fact of the Week for the week of December 14, 2020
Have you ever wondered where the items you put in the recycling bin are brought to? Sims Municipal Recycling processes 100% of the plastic, glass, and metal recycling picked up by the NYC Department of Sanitation (and 50% of the paper recycling), in total about 500,000 tons of material every year. This recycled material is processed to produce recycled plastic resins and other commodities, which are bought and used by manufacturers of toys, pipes, clothing, and even carpets, pillows, and aircraft!
