Eco-Fact of the Week from our Envionmental Club! Week of April 26, 2021:
How many plastic containers do you use a week? Think about food, water, beauty products, and cleaning supplies. Now think about how much energy it takes to make those containers. The manufacture of four plastic bottles alone releases the equivalent greenhouse gas emissions of driving one mile in a car, according to the World Economic Forum. And the oil and gas industry only plans to spend more on the manufacture of plastic in the next five years—$400 billion more!
If you can, instead of buying goods packaged in plastic, try to find paper, cardboard, bioplastic, glass, or metal packaging. These materials can be recycled more readily or they biodegrade. Also, consider purchasing a reusable water bottle and/or some reusable shopping bags. Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
