The Environmental Club presents the Eco Fact of the week for the week of November 11th -- Plastic straws take up to 200 years to decompose, and there are over 8.3 billion plastic straws polluting our beaches, not to mention our oceans. The use of paper straws has increased in popularity recently, as it is a greener option, but it is still not the best option. Most paper straws are not recyclable, as things with food residue cannot be recycled, and although paper straws decompose faster than plastic straws, they can still take up to months to decompose. Therefore, the best option is to not use straws at all, and help reduce pollution and reduce the waste of natural resources. Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
