Dr. Jeffrey Horenstein shares that on Friday, May 7 from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm, Huwe Burton will be speaking virtually to Dr. Horenstein’s Forensic Science classes. Anyone in the Stuyvesant Community is welcome to attend.
When he was 16 years old, Mr. Burton was arrested for the murder of his mother, and was subsequently incarcerated for 19 years. His conviction was vacated in 2019 when the Innocence Project and the Bronx District Attorney’s office presented evidence that Mr. Burton had been coerced into making a false confession.
Mr. Burton will speak about aspects of the events surrounding his conviction, incarceration and exoneration.
