Dr. Greenwald's students visit Central Synagogue & hear Prof.Deborah Archer

On Monday, May 5, students accompanied Dr. Greenwald to Central Synagogue to hear Professor Deborah Archer, president of the American Civil Liberties Union, talk about her career and lifelong dedication to fighting for civil rights as well as hearing about her new book Dividing Lines: How Transportation Infrastructure Reinforces Racial Inequality. She explained how "modern infrastructure and transportation systems — from highways to sidewalks to pedestrian crossings — have insidiously created and enforced racial segregations from the early 20th century to the present day." It turns out Professor Archer’s husband is a Stuyvesant alum and as she gave every student in attendance a signed copy of her book she said he wouldn't want it any other way!
