<p><strong>Mr. Stanislav Kats</strong> shares that last weekend, the <strong>NYC Math Team</strong> competed in the <strong>Carnegie Mellon Informatics and Mathematics Competition (CMIMC).</strong> The competition is broken up into three individual rounds (Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry, Combinatorics), a team round and a power round (a proof-based round).</p>
<p>Over 80 teams from across the country competed, and Stuyvesant received the following awards:</p>
<p>In Algebra and Number Theory, <strong>Akash Das</strong> (11th grade) finished in <strong>8th place nationally</strong>.</p>
<p>In Combinatorics, <strong>Milan Haiman</strong> (12th grade) finished in <strong>5th place nationally</strong>.</p>
<p>In Geometry, <strong>Kimi Sun</strong> (11th grade) and <strong>Ethan Joo</strong> (10th grade) <strong>tied for 6th place</strong>, <strong>Milan Haiman</strong> finished in <strong>4th place</strong> and <strong>Akash Das</strong> finished in <strong>2nd place nationally</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>In the Power Round, our top team, Tin Man, finished in 5th place nationally.</strong></p>
<p>Overall, <strong>Tin Man,</strong> comprised of Ethan Joo (10th grade), Max Vaysburd (10th grade), Akash Das (11th grade), Kimi Sun (11th grade), Matthew Kendall (12th grade) and Milan Haiman (12th grade), <strong>finished 4th place nationally</strong>.</p>
