After successfully completing a rigorous selection process that included a nomination, application, and a personal interview, Katerina Corr, Rae Seong Jeong, and Jessica Jiang are 3 of 6 students selected from New York City this year to participate in the Milken Scholars Program. Congratulations to these three outstanding seniors!
This winter, nearly 450 nominations similar to the one submitted by Director of College Counseling, Jeffrey Makris for Katerina, Rae, and Jessica were received by Milken. In the spring, they received over 200 applications to the Program, and of that group 13 candidates were interviewed. Katerina, Rae, and Jessica excelled throughout the process and provided ample evidence of their academic achievements, leadership ability, and commitment to community service.
Milken Scholars are selected from high schools located within New York City. The Program offers selected graduating high school students $10,000 in financial assistance, as well as lifetime access to a wide array of resources. These resources include ongoing academic and career related counseling, assistance with internships, opportunities for community service, and a fund to assist with the transition from college to graduate school or the world of work. Ideally, these resources create a system that puts talented youth in the position to achieve their goals, and in the process, make a difference in the lives of those around them.
While Katerina, Rae, and Jessica and their families will be honored at the virtual Recognition Ceremony, we at Stuy also celebrate this recent accomplishment! Stuyvesant is so proud to have six years running of Milken Scholar Winners!
