<p>Congratulations to Stuyvesant's Chess team on their fantastic standings in the national grade-level championships in Orlando last weekend!</p>
<p>Coach,<strong> Mr. Bill Boericke</strong> shares that in a clear sign of good things to come, the Stuyvesant Freshmen Team, <strong>Eugene Yoo, Ben Medina</strong> and <strong>Ryan Lee</strong> came in <strong>2<sup>nd</sup> in the country</strong>. In the i<strong>ndividual standings, Ben Medina tied for 8th in the nation in the 9th grade division.</strong><br/><br/><strong>Sophomores Adam Avnet, Ryan Chen, Alison Chan and Daniel Fridlyand took 5<sup>th</sup> place in the nation in the 10th grade division.</strong><br/><br/>J<strong>uniors Justin Chen, Jun Yan Li and Cheng Chen placed 2<sup>nd</sup> in the nation in the 11<sup>th</sup> grade division.</strong> In the individual standings, Team <strong>Captain Justin Chen placed 5<sup>th</sup>.</strong><br/><br/>Although Stuy was not able to field a 12th grade team this year, <strong>Arjun Rai distinguished himself in the 12<sup>th</sup> grade individual standings by tying for 6<sup>th</sup> place. </strong><br/><br/>We are looking forward to the team nationals in Columbus, Ohio this Spring. It is looking like Stuyvesant will once again be a force in the national chess scene!<br/><br/></p>
