COLLEGE ADVICE FOR ALL GRADES

Senior Tip - When you’re making your college decision, make sure you have all the up-to-date information. Decision Day has been May 1st for decades, but given the circumstances, many schools are extending their deadlines for tuition deposits. Your top-choice school might be one of them. The advocacy group Admission Counselors Cultivating Equity and Peace Today (ACCEPT) is tracking - in real time - the schools that have changed their deadlines. You can access their information in a crowd-sourced doc here. Writing for Forbes, admissions expert Brennan Barnard encourages students to take any additional time they’ve been given to do a deeper dive into their top-choice school’s culture, offerings, and response to the ongoing situation. Junior Tip - Find out how 19 may change your admission journey with a special admissions panel from Applerouth. The spring of Junior year is usually a pivotal time in the college admissions process: you’re taking your admissions tests, you’re visiting schools, and you’re narrowing your search. Things are different this year, but that doesn’t mean that you have nothing to do! The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to know the facts: what will college admission look like for the Class of 2021? We’re here to help with an online admissions panel on April 21st called The Impact of COVID-19 on College Admission and Testing. Applerouth's Ginger Fay, a former Senior Admissions Officer at Duke University, will be joined by Directors of Admission from top schools. Together, they'll give you all the information your family will need to make plans for next year. Learn more here.

Sophomore Tip - It’s time to start thinking about SAT and ACT - you can get a running start from home. Even though the Spring ACT and SATs have been postponed, we want to make sure students are prepared for when the tests start back up again. We’ll be holding our National Practice Test Weekend events 100% online, so you can experience a full-length, proctored test from the safety of your own home. We’ll be offering the ACT on April 25 + 26 and the SAT May 2 + 3. Afterwards, you can attend online strategy sessions that will help you understand your score report and learn key test taking strategies. Learn more here.
