Coalition for Community Schools Forums

Coalition for Community Schools Forums

The Coalition for Community Schools Excellence (CCSE) is planning two virtual citywide Community School Forums later this month (May 25th for Brooklyn/Queens/Staten Island and May 27 for the Bronx/Manhattan, 5:00 -7:00 pm each day). The Office of Community Schools is collaborating closely with CCSE to plan this event.

Every spring, all Community Schools hold individual school level forums as a way to share data, build community, and collaboratively plan with key community stakeholders. These school level forums will continue to happen and will provide a critical opportunity for school stakeholders to connect with one another, to reflect on what’s working and what can be strengthened, and to adapt plans to meet the community’s evolving needs. The citywide forums will build on the momentum of school level forums, and on Mayor de Blasio’s Executive Budget announcement that the Community Schools Initiative will expand from 266 schools to 406 schools citywide, to achieve the following results:

  • Build awareness of the state of the Community School Initiative in NYS/NYC- Recap of Federal, State and City investments and advocacy efforts for Community Schools funding
  • Share resources and discuss community (youth, parents) needs and priorities
  • Lift up, celebrate and share best practices
  • Generate opportunities for collaboration across communities
  • Create a vision for NYC Community Schools that builds on our current work and accomplishments and takes us into the future
