Check out how our Big Sib Program has been making Strides this Fall!

The Big Sib Program is a group of upperclassmen dedicated to helping the freshman or sophomore transition as smoothly as possible into Stuyvesant. We know that it is more difficult than ever to meet new people and make new friends, so our Big Sib Chairs want to share some strides that the Program has been working on.

This past August, we held our first ever Big Sib Little Sib Virtual Field Day. Little Sibs got to mix and match into different Zoom calls to play different games and activities, all while meeting new people outside their homerooms. The end of the day was wrapped up with a fun virtual concert featuring some of our super talented Big Sibs!

The day before the first official day of school, we hosted our first homeroom meeting with the help of the guidance department. Two weeks ago, we held our first homeroom meeting during the school year, mostly to serve as a place for Little Sibs to ask any quick questions they have about Stuy (we've attached some pictures of the Big Sibs getting ready to see their Little Sibs!). We plan on having homeroom meetings occur monthly. In addition, we're currently working on developing mix-and-match homeroom sessions where Little Sibs can bond across homerooms. Here are some photos of 1YY and 1JJ’s big sibs from the first meeting!

As always, if parents/guardians or Little Sibs have any concerns about Stuyvesant, always reach out to Big Sibs. From academic help to emotional concerns, Big Sibs are always here to help.

(If for some reason a Little Sib has not met their Big Sibs yet and would like to do so, please email bigsibchairs21@gmail.com)
